MIS Quad-Sparing Knee Procedure

The MIS Quad-Sparing Knee Procedure is less invasive than traditional knee replacement surgery, involving a much smaller incision and specialized surgical instruments. In traditional surgery, the surgeon makes a 12-inch incision down the front of the knee. The tendon and quadriceps muscle, which control the bending of the knee, are cut.  In the MIS Quad-Sparing procedure, a 3- to 5-inch incision is made on the side of the knee, and the tendon and quad muscle are separated, rather than cut.

Dr. Behzadi has received extensive training and certification on this procedure through The Zimmer Institute. For more information on the Zimmer Institute and MIS technology, please visit www.pacewithlife.com.

The MIS technique can offer significant advantages over standard knee surgery, including:

  • Smaller incision – 3 to 5 inches vs. 12 inches

  • Faster rehabilitation

  • Less blood loss

Patients who had the MIS Quad-Sparing procedure for knee replacement had similar or improved outcomes when compared to those patients who had traditional knee replacement surgery.
